Board of Commissioners introduced an Ordinance to prevent people from locking bikes, beach chairs, or other items to benches, fences or railings. Also, only bicycles, electric bicycles or scooters may be placed in or secured to a bicycle rack. Public Works is in the process of installing bike racks at the street ends, parks, Sunset Lake, and the soon-to-be-opened Crest Arts Pavilion.
Ocean City Tabernacle accommodated several hundred people who turned out for an information session on offshore wind activities. Thirty-five people spoke. Only 2 in favor. A presentation was given by attorney Michael Donahue. The issues ranged from the impact of the turbines on the ocean view to environmental dangers from a potentially negative effect on tourism to harm to the fishing industry. More to follow. The DEP denied North Wildwood an emergency request to extend the bulkhead from 12th to 16th Avenues and to regrade the dune where wave action caused large cliffs in part of that area. Oral arguments are set for March 27 in front of Superior Court Judge Michael J. Blee.
Host to Two Easter Events – The Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 8 at 10am on the beach behind Cape May Convention Hall. The City of Cape May, the Chamber of Commerce along with Small Businesses of Washington Street Mall will be sponsoring the Annual Easter Fashion Stroll. It will take place at Rotary Park, 400 Lafayette Street on Sunday, April 9 at 1pm.
